Monday
Poached eggs with tomato. Too much this weekend?
This low-fat breakfast will set you right.
Two of Four Gables own hens’ poached eggs on toast, served with tomatoes stewed
with fresh basil.
Tuesday
Scots porridge. The real McCoy, with whole organic oats soaked overnight and
cooked with a scoop of raisins and just the wee drop of whisky… slowly, oh so
slowly… for a beautifully creamy bowl of porridge.
Served with brown sugar & light cream. It will fill you up!
Wednesday
Eggs California – creamy scrambled eggs, topped with freshly diced tomato, minced
spring onion and fresh coriander, finished with a dollop of crème fraiche.
Served on a toasted muffin with bacon and homemade tomato salsa on the side.
Thursday
Cheese or Mushroom omelette. Anne’s fluffy omelette with garden herbs, oozing
with cheese or folded around a filling of mushrooms with a hint of thyme.
Served with sliced tomato or our butcher’s smoked bacon.
Friday
Pain Perdu (“Lost Bread”) – speciality from New Orleans, but this is a healthier
version of French toast. Thickly sliced muffin soaked overnight in eggs, light
cream & cinnamon, then baked.
Served with garden fruit compote and maple syrup along with sausages from the
local butcher.
Saturday
Creamed Mushrooms on Toast - Fragrant mushrooms & herbs in a light cream sauce, delicately seasoned and topped with fresh parsley, served on choice of toast. Bacon on the side.
Sunday
Scrambled Eggs with Smoked Salmon – Anne’s original special: creamy scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and chives, served on choice of toast and accompanied by sliced tomato.
