The Sunday Times of 14 April included an insert citing the best places to live in the various parts of the country. In our area, York was rated number one – but not all that far behind, in No. 4, was Boston Spa! Yes indeed. Geoffrey Boycott’s move to our town was named as one of the reasons, but so was the development of Church Fields and the influx of “smart young families” – and along with it, a plethora of places to eat and drink on the High Street. The lovely Georgian architecture is part of the charm, not to mention the convenience of several good schools (and a doctor’s surgery, an excellent hardware store, a chemist, etc etc). We already knew this, of course, but it’s nice to be recognised! Oh, and they didn’t even mention the lovely riverside walks.
