Visitors often comment about how quiet and peaceful the Garden Cottage is. It has come a long way from its humble beginnings as a coal shed, laundry, and gardener’s toilet and is now a delightful one-bedroom cottage for 2 to 3 guests, located in the garden behind Four Gables, a Grade 2 Listed Arts & Crafts property. The decoration has a tranquil, oriental theme. David and Anne Watts pride themselves on attention to detail. The kitchenette has all the necessities (see details below) and you will find a comfortable bed, smart TV and free Wifi. The paved patio with garden furniture is for exclusive use by the occupants.
For our B&B guests, we offer an extensive continental breakfast for guests to enjoy in the privacy of your own tranquil space, at whatever time suits you. It includes homemade jam and muffins, fruit from the garden (in season), and much more.
Four Gables is on quiet lane, within walking distance of Boston Spa’s bustling foodie scene with a big choice of restaurants and the lovely new Crown Pub. One mile off the A1, halfway between London and Edinburgh, equidistant to York, Leeds and Harrogate (about 12 miles from each), within striking distance of the Yorkshire Dales. Wetherby Racecourse is 3 miles away, and there are several historic houses and gardens near, including Harewood House (5 miles away) and Bramham Park (3 miles). Private parking.

Garden Cottage is located at: Four Gables, Oaks Lane, Boston Spa, Wetherby, LS23 6DS
Leave the A1 at Junction 45 signed for the A659 (1 mile south of Wetherby) and take signs for Tadcaster and Boston Spa. Oaks Lane is on the right, about 1 mile from the A1 – but the entrance to the lane is difficult to see when you come from the A1. When you see the church up ahead on the left, start looking on the right – Oaks Lane is immediately before a terrace of three pale brick Victorian Houses with black & gold railings. If you get to Westwood Way, you’ve gone too far – make a U-turn and come back (note: the entrance to Oaks Lane is easier to see coming from the other direction, so it may be just as easy to look for Westwood Way in the first place. Don’t go into Westwood Way, though – just make a U-turn as if you’re going back to the A1). Once in Oaks Lane, the entrance to Four Gables is about 30 metres on the left, after the 3 garages and at the beginning of the yew hedge; there is a sign. If you’re checking in first, park in front of the house.
