Visitors often comment about how quiet and peaceful the Garden Cottage is. It has come a long way from its humble beginnings as a coal shed, laundry, and gardener’s toilet and is now a delightful one-bedroom cottage for 2 to 3 guests, located in the garden behind Four Gables, a Grade 2 Listed Arts & Crafts property. The decoration has a tranquil, oriental theme: David and Anne Watts pride themselves on attention to detail. The kitchen is equipped with microwave, fridge, 4-burner hob and a small oven, and you will find fluffy towels, a comfortable bed with crisp linens and down duvets (in season), hair dryer, TV with DVD player, as well as free Wifi and a docking station for your MP3. The paved patio with garden furniture is for exclusive use by the occupants.

It is halfway between London and Edinburgh, equidistant to York, Leeds and Harrogate (about 12 miles from each), within striking distance of the Yorkshire Dales. Wetherby Race course is 3 miles away there are several historic houses and gardens near including Harewood House 5 miles away and Bramham Park is 3 miles.
Garden Cottage is located at: Four Gables, Oaks Lane, Boston Spa, Wetherby, LS23 6DS
Leave the A1 at Junction 45 signed for the A659 (1 mile south of Wetherby) and take signs for Tadcaster and Boston Spa. Oaks Lane is on the right, about 1 mile from the A1 – but the entrance to the lane is difficult to see when you come from the A1. When you see the church up ahead on the left, start looking on the right – Oaks Lane is immediately before a terrace of three pale brick Victorian Houses with black & gold railings. If you get to Westwood Way, you’ve gone too far – make a U-turn and come back (note: the entrance to Oaks Lane is easier to see coming from the other direction, so it may be just as easy to look for Westwood Way in the first place. Don’t go into Westwood Way, though – just make a U-turn as if you’re going back to the A1). Once in Oaks Lane, the entrance to Four Gables is about 30 metres on the left, after the 3 garages and at the beginning of the yew hedge; there is a sign. If you’re checking in first, park in front of the house.
