At 9.33 this morning, we had the solar eclipse at 90% – as witnessed by the international group of guests from South Africa and Canada we had staying here.
This dramatic shot was taken by one of our guests from our front garden. He was telling us that he’d been fortunate enough to see the last total eclipse in South Africa – was it 1999? The birds stopped singing while the sun was obstructed and the corona was visible (we weren’t as lucky as that here, unfortunately) – it must have been an amazing moment.
Still, it was dramatic here as it was – the sky was clear, and the clouds started to come in just after the highest point of the eclipse. Through dark glasses, all we could see was a tiny sickle of sun. It was distinctly darker!
